Public Health Dentistry is a specialty that deals with the prevention of oral diseases and the promotion of oral health.

To improve the quality of life through prevention and treatment of diseases, through motivation of public by dental health education, pamphlets ,posters, models and mass scale screening of population in rural, suburban and urban areas.

Objectives

• To prepare students to monitor environmental and oral health status and solve community health problems.
• To inform, educate and empower people about oral health care issues.
• To predict the prevalence and occurrence of dental problems in various communities.
• To train students to diagnose and investigate oral health problems in the communities.
• To link people to health services and assure provision for the same when not available.
• Encouraging students in research activates for new insights and solutions to oral health problems.

• Conducting camps to promote oral health and implement oral hygiene measures in the community.
• Providing basic treatments such as extractions, oral prophylaxis and restorations.
